The mission of the City of Loudon Volunteers In Police Service (VIPS) is to provide a helping hand to senior residents by providing non-enforcement services, allowing sworn officers to focus on their primary mission of crime prevention and enforcement of state and city laws.

Police Volunteers receive training in:

  • Orientation and Organization
  • Crime Prevention
  • CPR and First Aid
  • Introduction to Law Enforcement
  • Defensive Driving
  • Patrol Procedures
  • Traffic Control
  • Radio Communications
  • Basic Report Writing
  • Volunteers also complete one ride-along with a Police Officer.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Good moral character
  • Good driving record
  • No felony convictions
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Pass a Background check
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Good people skills
  • Wear provided uniform
  • Attend monthly meetings
  • Have at least 2 volunteers per vehicle
  • Have at least 16 hours per month
  • Maintain positive attitude
  • Enjoy your time
  • Present a professional appearance at all times
